Evaluation-How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Research was the point at which i had to begin using programmes and technologies, in this, the 21st century, the Internet is a valuable resource. To make sure that my research was as rounded and consistent as possible i searched various sites through 'Google'. On this site i found biographies on Charlie Chaplin and various other influences; this was a good starting point as i could see what influenced their decisions and how that would be shown in our product (Monday Morning Madness). 'YouTube' was also a valuable research method for our group; i often watched Charlie Chaplin film snippets on here; this is where much of our creation ideas stemmed from.
Here is a picture of our group, these are the technologies and programmes that we used during the creation of our research, ancillary tasks, planning, blogging amongst many other things.
The Internet, Google, Facebook,Music Websites, Photoshop, Blogspot, Wordpress, Premiere, PowerPoint, Movies Maker, Microsoft Word and YouTube were the programmes we used. In the background you can see us actively using some of these programmes. I am using Premiere, Dave is using Photoshop and Danielle was using Wordpress.
During the filming process i learnt how to use many different types of cameras. We each took it in turn to use these technologies. Whilst filming in the sunshine i learnt how to film the action without being blinded by the sun, i also learnt how to make sure that shadows weren't caught in the scene. To make sure that i got loads of different angles and shots i used the zoom button , we included point of view shots, extreme close ups were created also by using the zoom button. Whilst filming we often took two cameras and two tripods, the two cameras were useful as we could get the same shot/action from different angles. This is a picture of Dave using one of the cameras that each of us shot with. He is looking at the screen, i learnt that this was a useful tool; after filming we could rewind and make sure that shots were as we intended with out having to re shoot on an alternate day.
On Photoshop we created our magazine front cover, on Photoshop i learnt how to cut and re size pictures so that they were of the best pixel quality.
The picture of the poster on the top is the first one that we did,as you can see it is not as eye catching, the pictures along the bottom of the poster are dull. After noticing this we went back over the colours and made them more bright, the picture that is now bright green was natural colours but we changed this on Photoshop using the paint tool. It's more eye catching and effective than the first attempt at the poster.
This shows Danielle and I working on the magazine front cover, through research we found how consistencies in colours make front covers more appealing and can be related to the product, in our case Monday Morning Madness.
Another part of our ancillary task was to create a poster advertising our product.
This is our poster, the colours on here are the same as the colour scheme on our magazine front cover, there is a consistent which links all of these things together. We wanted our poster to show what our short film's feel is. Having the two main characters on the front makes the audience feel they know a bit about what is to happen before watching the short film.
Facebook was a vital tool, we used this to gain audience feedback and to see what people in our target audience felt about our creation. With this i learnt how to insert hyperlinks. It was important that i visited our site regularly to keep a note of what people were saying about our product.
During this whole process i learnt a lot, a lot about how to use technologies effectively. Cutting the video was the most challenging thing for me, it took a lot of patience as in our school networks often went down and work was repeatedly lost, however i am now really happy that we stuck at it as we believe our product is exactly as we wanted. I learnt a lot about how to use programmes, such as Blogspot, i learnt how to add pictures and documents, i used labels to make document easier to find.

Evaluation-Looney Tunes
The humour from 'Looney Tunes' largely comes from the use of sound effects. We wanted this to come across in our short film.
As our short film is a silent movie the humour cannot come from the dialogue, instead it has to come from the quirky facial expressions, the speed of the action and the sound effects, much in the style of Charlie Chaplin.
When watching 'Looney Tunes' the sound effects really added humour and so we took it on ourselves to find/create some sound effects.
Evaluation Main research Charlie Chaplin
This film is what i found when researching into slapstick, black and white, silent movies. We knew that we wanted to show the comedy in both our film and our ancillary tasks.
The camera angles in the Charlie Chaplin films are very front on, this will be one of the conventions of black and white, silent films that we will challange. I feel that it's important to change things such as camera angles and the distance the actors are away from the character to make the film more interesting for the audience.
